The Victorian Coastal Icon has been brought back to life and kicked off with a BANG!
Melbourne culinary heavyweight Scott Pickett was tasked with designing a range of unique drinks and dining experiences, combining historic charm and contemporary sophistication; as the infamous Continental Hotel, Sorrento returns to its rightful place as the Peninsula's premier venue. On opening night, we ventured inside to find indulgent fine dining in a breathtaking setting. We sipped cocktails on the rooftop deck while watching the sunset. We tasted remastered gastro pub classics and enjoyed beer straight off the beach.
For this event, and in collaboration with Cassette PR, Breeze Entertainment and Divine Audio, yours truly, BECK. Entertainment procured a hand-picked selection of show stopping performers. This exciting reimagined venue was activated with engaging performances that complimented each exclusive room.
Guests walked the red carpet upon arrival and once inside were greeted with a glass of French champagne at the Tattinger pop-up bar.
The Atrium
Upon walking into the Atrium, the stunning burlesque dancer Alicia was hard to miss. Perched in an oversized martini glass, she served champagne to guests as they walked by, and was joined in this room by DJ Marc and one of our favourite Melbourne vocalists, the superb Karla Adele.
Audreys
This signature restaurant pays homage to Scott Pickett’s grandmother and takes you on a nostalgic and authentic culinary journey. Amongst 1920s old-world glamour, you can taste the essence of the nearby ocean in every dish while overlooking stunning Sorrento.
“She loved the beach and the sea and Audreys’ menu will honour her life.” -Scott Pickett
For this very special room, we adorned two dancers with floral headpieces inspired by Pickett’s late grandmother and dressed these performers in white power suits. They were joined by Susanna on violin and Lilli on cello - a touch of elegance to compliment the stunning space.
The Conti Bar and Beer Garden
Our stylish lifesavers channelled Baywatch in their bright red swimsuits and created a laidback atmosphere while resting on deck chairs under the palm trees. Chilled out acoustic tunes were smoothly delivered by Lucas Miller and Alex Lozsa, keeping the mood lively yet relaxed.
Barlow
Guests danced the night away to tunes by DJ Jayden, DJ Emma Peters, and percussionist Gerald Speeranza - as we added a touch of glamour with our free-styling disco dancers Kate and Jordan, who wore outfits that gave major mirror ball vibes and totally setup the party tone.
Halycon
Our two ballroom dancers gave a breathtaking feature performance as they worked their way around the room, delivering a sense of opulence and desire. A truly stunning feature that guests loved and we loved creating.
Sunset Terrace
'Cocktails by the pool’ as Aperol Spritz was served by roaming models dressed in eye-catching sailor suits. The perfect way to watch the sun set as deep house beats swept across the pool, reminisce of an Ibiza pool party.
